Business Development Manager (2 openings)

Lagos · Nigeria · Hybrid / client-facing travel · Full-time

Experience requirements for this role are set in the required qualifications below—some roles ask for more than three years (for example sales leadership). Compensation and benefits are discussed with shortlisted candidates only—we do not publish salary ranges on public postings.

We are hiring two Business Development Managers to grow Starlight Labs’ pipeline: outbound and inbound pursuit of technology and services opportunities, solution-oriented selling with delivery and architecture stakeholders, and disciplined CRM hygiene from first meeting through proposal and handover.

What you will do

  • Identify, qualify, and progress opportunities across target industries; maintain a healthy top-of-funnel and weighted pipeline in our CRM
  • Run discovery and solution conversations with economic buyers, IT leadership, and procurement—translating pain into scope themes we can deliver
  • Partner with solutions architects, delivery leads, and marketing on pitches, RFPs/RFIs, oral presentations, and proof-of-concept framing
  • Develop account plans for priority logos; coordinate intros, events, and partner channels where relevant
  • Own commercial hygiene: forecasting discipline, stage definitions, next-step clarity, and timely updates for leadership
  • Negotiate structure (T&M, capacity, outcome-framed) within agreed guardrails; escalate non-standard terms
  • Represent the firm professionally in Nigeria and with international prospects; travel as programs require

Required qualifications

  • 5–7 years of professional experience in B2B sales and solution selling (combined track record in both—not only order-taking or retail)
  • Demonstrable experience selling technology services, consulting, systems integration, cloud, or complex software—buyers are often CIO/CDO, heads of engineering, or transformation sponsors
  • Comfort leading multi-stakeholder cycles: discovery workshops, proposal alignment, and closing with legal/procurement
  • Strong written and verbal English; crisp follow-up, agendas, and recap notes
  • Hands-on use of CRM (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, or equivalent) for pipeline, activities, and forecasting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional track record
  • Resilience, integrity, and ability to operate in a metrics-driven, collaborative sales culture

Preferred qualifications

  • Existing relationships in financial services, technology, health, energy, or public sector in Nigeria or broader Africa/Middle East
  • Experience supporting or co-selling with global delivery / offshore models
  • Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft, or cloud hyperscaler partner ecosystems
