Director, Business Development

Lead Starlight Labs’ business development function: strategy, pipeline quality, team coaching, and executive participation in the largest pursuits—ensuring solution sales discipline, accurate forecasting, and alignment with delivery capacity and brand.

What you will do

  • Set segment priorities, coverage models, and partnership strategy; align with executive leadership on goals and resourcing
  • Coach and develop Business Development Managers and pursuit teams; institute playbooks for discovery, qualification, and proposal excellence
  • Personally sponsor strategic accounts and mega-deals; join C-level conversations where credibility and judgment matter
  • Own weekly/monthly revenue forecast rigor with leadership; improve stage gates, win/loss reviews, and deal reviews
  • Partner with Marketing on campaigns, events, and messaging; ensure field feedback loops into positioning
  • Work with Legal, Finance, and Delivery on pricing guardrails, risk, and SOW quality
  • Represent the company in industry forums and selective PR; uphold ethics and anti-corruption expectations

Required qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in B2B sales and solution selling, including several years leading others (team lead, first-line manager, or practice sales leadership)
  • Proven track record closing complex technology or professional services deals and growing strategic accounts
  • Deep understanding of solution sales methodology (MEDDIC, Challenger, SPIN, or equivalent) applied in practice—not only training certificates
  • Executive presence; ability to facilitate tradeoff conversations with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong CRM and pipeline management literacy; comfortable interrogating forecast quality
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA or equivalent advanced study preferred at this level

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience scaling BD in a consulting, SI, or high-growth technology services firm
  • Exposure to Nigeria, Africa, and international buyer expectations in the same pursuit
  • Existing C-level access in one or more of our focus industries
